Dealing with your lender or servicer: Student loan
I am filing a formal complaint against Mohala regarding fraudulent billing practices and the reporting of inaccurate account information that is causing me direct financial harm. My agreed monthly payment is $50.00. However, every time I attempt to make a payment, I am charged $100.00, and on multiple occasions I have been forced to pay $200.00. This is the result of Mohala sending me repeated and conflicting past due notifications on payments that are not actually delinquent. These erroneous notices force me into making duplicate payments to avoid further penalties. Mohalas servicer notifications do not match the accurate status of my account. This discrepancy between what I owe and what I am being billed has caused me to overpay substantially and constitutes inaccurate reporting of my account. I am requesting immediate corrective action, including : 1. A full audit of my account history and all payments made 2. Refund of all overpayments collected through these duplicate charges 3. Correction of all inaccurate past due notifications and account records 4. Written confirmation of my correct monthly payment amount of $50.00 I expect a prompt written response. If this matter is not resolved, I intend to escalate it to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) and my states attorney general.
